Drumming Protest: Global Climate Strike Groningen

Yesterday Fridays for Future Groningen organised a demo in the city centre: Drumming Protest: Global Climate Strike Groningen. The demo was part of a tradition orignally started by the Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg. The organisation’s aim is to adress the need for a fast energy transition (a pathway toward transformation of the global energy sector from fossil-based to zero-carbon) and to hold the government(s) accountable for the truly poor attempts to save our planet. The protest was made more powerfull by aksing the people to bring drums and pans to make noise.
While the world is complaining about the lack of economic growth our planet is dying and more locally people in the Groningen area are moved out of their houses. The houses have been seriously damaged because the dutch government pulled away fossil fuels from the ground underneath the houses in Groningen for decades.
